History

The owner, Rob Walden, has been working on cars in some fashion for almost his entire life, started at the young age of 9.  Rob lived in Seattle in his early 20’s and likes to tell the story about how he used to buy gas at the 76 station which is now Scanwest Autosport!    The property came up for sale and Rob decided to open his own shop.  He found a passion early on for the Saabs and never looked back.  Scanwest started out as Saab Masters in 1985 and has been growing ever since.  Rob’s determination to get the job done right and for a fair price is what has been motivating the staff for decades to provide the customer with best car care available.

In the 1990’s the shop caught the attention of Saab for our rally prowess in the classic 900.  Scanwest won many races with our modified classic 900, enough for Saab to sponsor Scanwest for the SCCA rally seasons of 1996 and 1997.  Saab provided us with a new 1995 900 and truck load of extra parts.  After modifications and creating a 300hp monster 900, we won the 1997 SCCA Pro Rally Group 5 Championship.

Since the end of the Rally days, we have settled down to just modifying customer’s cars with performance parts from Abbott. Besides tuning Saabs and racing, the main focus has always been servicing the customer’s needs. Scanwest has expanded several times in recent years and has taken on other car lines- Subaru, Mini, Audi, and BMW.  As with the expansion into other car lines and our continued work with Saab, we always stay one step ahead of the technology curve, keeping our skills and equipment up to date to provide you with the best, most efficient service possible.  Please come on down and meet the Scanwest Autosport Family.
